Music Society
For over six decades our society has been actively
involved in the cultural life of Morpeth, presenting an annual series of classical concerts performed by
professional artists of national and international standing. Traditionally, these take place in the intimate setting of
the panelled ballroom of Morpeth Town Hall but this year we are also using a new venue for three concerts, Morpeth
Methodist Church, which allows for bigger audiences.
Throughout the year, the Society also assists the young
musicians in the town. The Coull Quartet will be holding a masterclass for local schools and BBC Young Musician,
Mark Simpson, will be talking to students about composing. Through members’ donations, we supply
some free concert tickets to schools and we have introduced the Eileen Bowler Scholarship to fund an
outstanding student’s additional music lessons.
Our concert season starts in October and will offer a wide
and inspiring range of music. We warmly invite you to join us to experience the immediacy and power of live
performance, giving an extra edge to enjoyment.
