Schumann Faschingschwank aus Wien Op.26
Schumann Carnival Op.9
Chopin Sonata no.2 in B flat minor Op.35
Chopin Sonata no.3 in B minor Op.58
Nikolai Demidenko is one of the great international
pianists and the society is honoured to welcome
him for his first performance in Morpeth. Born in
Russia, he has lived in Britain since 1990. Nikolai is
noted for his performances of Chopin. In this recital,
Schumann’s mischevious Fascgingschwank and
Carnaval precede the dramatic second and third
Chopin piano sonatas.
‘Demidenko’s virtuosity has nothing to do with Liszt
style
playing-to-the-gallery. Supreme technical
control and high-speed accuracy are its foundations.
More to the point is the clarity with which he invests
the most dense and complex structures and the
expressive poetry he finds.’
